Hope Warshaw is a nationally recognized and respected dietitian and diabetes educator who applies more than twenty-five years of expertise in her work as an author and freelance writer, media spokesperson, consultant and diabetes educator. Hope has become a nationally recognized and respected expert in the areas of healthier restaurant eating and diabetes nutrition management. She offers practical solutions to healthier eating, whether for one person or millions through a variety of communication vehicles.

As a freelance writer, Hope wrote her first book The Restaurant Companion: A Guide to Healthier Eating Out, (Surrey Books, Chicago) in 1990. It has sold over 450,000 copies. This book is now published as Eat Out, Eat Right, 3rd ed.. Hope’s consumer books with the American Diabetes Association include: Diabetes Meal Planning Made Easy, (3rd ed), Guide to Healthy Restaurant Eating, 3rd ed., What to Eat When You’re Eating Out, (Small Steps Press imprint), The Complete Guide to Carb Counting (2nd ed.) and The Diabetes Food and Nutrition Bible.

Hope has written consumer articles for diabetes magazines including Diabetes Self-Management and Diabetes Forecast. She regularly contributes to and is on the advisory board of Diabetic Living (a Better Homes & Garden’s Special Interest publication). Hope has also written article for Ladies Home Journal, PREVENTION, PARADE, and Cooking Light. Hope has authored articles on nutrition and diabetes in professional journals, such as Diabetes Care, Journal of the American Dietetic Association and The Diabetes Educator.

As a media spokesperson Hope has promoted her books and better-for-you food products on several media tours. She has appeared on Good Morning America, CNN, Graham Kerr’s A Gathering Place, TV Food Network, Lifetime Cable and others. She has conducted hundreds of print and radio interviews and been an expert resource for many websites. Hope has been quoted often in newspapers and magazines including: TIME, HEALTH, PREVENTION, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Post, Washingtonian, GLOW, CHILD, SHAPE, Good Housekeeping, Reader’s Digest, Men’s Health and others.

As a nutrition and diabetes consultant, Hope has worked with directly with companies, such as McNeil Nutritionals, LLC, a Johnson & Johnson Company; Nutrition 21, Inc, National Starch Food Innovation, Presentdiabetes.com, Novo-Nordisk Pharmaceuticals and others. She writes consumer and professional materials for brochures, newsletters and websites. Hope demonstrates her leadership abilities serving in numerous volunteer positions nationally for The American Dietetic Association and several dietetic practice groups and American Association of Diabetes Educators. Hope has received several national awards including American Dietetic Association Foundation’s 2002 Award for Excellence in Consultation and Business Practice, American Diabetes Association’s 1999 Outstanding Community Service in Reaching People award and the 1993 Diabetes Care and Education practice group of the American Dietetic Association Distinguished Service Award.
